Some procedures and techniques that are taught in Wilderness Medical Associates’ programs are based on substantially different clinical guidelines from those used in conventional urban EMS and first aid.
I understand that the procedures and techniques that Wilderness Medical Associates' teaches in their courses are to be used only in the specialized wilderness context of delayed or prolonged transport.
I agree to use these modified procedures and techniques ONLY under the following conditions:
- I am working in a wilderness or delayed/prolonged transport context.
- I have been trained in these modified procedures and techniques and have maintained my certification as suggested by Wilderness Medical Associates.
- Unless he/she is incapable of understanding or responding, I will inform the victim about the procedure and its potential risks and then obtain verbal consent before initiating treatment.
When I am using the field protocols as an employee/representative of a company, organization or agency, I will do so only as part of an approved Policy and Procedure for
medical treatment.
